Dis-Ease can NOT live in the presence of a highly oxygenated body

Otto Warburg won a Nobel Prize for this discovery in 1931.  WHY haven’t we heard much about this?  That’s a whole other post!  GEEZ~~~~  We know that every cell is an electrical generator, so the energy produced by the cell must be the key to the life process…sound reasonable? So many doctors claim that our DIETS have nothing to do with our illness.  PLUUUUZZEEEEE!  What about the balance of nature?  Just look around at the growth of anything or the deterioration of it.  What you feed it, water it has MUCH to do with the growth of living things.  Last time I checked…humans were  LIVING THINGS!

Once a orthopedic surgeon told my teenage son after a horrible car accident that crushed his pelvis, broken a couple bones, ripped his liver, caused a huge blood loss— that if he ate at McDonalds three times a day and ate only junk food in between that he would heal exactly the same as if he took vitamins and ate “healthy”. I’m not sure he would have really known what  eating healthy meant!  I highly disagreed with him verbally and that was BEFORE my formal training.  How “dumbed down” can you be?  Anywho….lets move on before my blood pressure boils. :)

If you choose to eat the Standard American Diet…WHERE do you expect to get your nutrients from?   How will you maintain fluid balance?  Our bodies require fluid balance for optimal health.

HOW do you keep your body oxygenated?   First, eat what Mother Nature intended you to eat…WHOLE foods.  Not processed junk. The refined foods don’t completely metabolize and they force the oxygen OUT of your body leaving you unbalanced and a breeding grown for illness.  Dehydration forces oxygen out of your cells.  Put back in enzymes…..herbs…spices…pure water…EXERCISE….not rocket science here.  Eat from nature.  It’s easier than you think.  Get out of your own way!

No matter WHAT you name your dis-ease, it can NOT live in a healthy body! YOU hold the key to great health right in your OWN hands.  The only thing you need to do is DECIDE to change.  Health is on your horizon if you make the right choice.  NO MATTER what you are dealing with.

SUPPLEMENTS WILL NEVER TAKE THE PLACE OF REAL, WHOLE, NOURISHING FOODS.

  • Don’t think because you swallow 100 vitamins/minerals every day that you will be healthy!  The single most greatest thing you can do for your health is to change the way you eat.  STOP eating man made foods, processed foods.  Start eating WHOLE foods that serve your body.  You will immediately feel the difference~

WILL YOU DECLINE AFTER AGE 55ISH?

  •  In today’s world our lives have less and less physical as well as mental challenges than our ancestors.  This has resulted in changes in our caloric energy…our blood circulation, digestive activity, nervous and reproductive systems…they have or can become STAGNANT!  A physical and mental life is NECESSARY for great health. In many countries, people continue to farm, walk very long distances, teach well into their years…up to 100’s!
  • In modern society, after age 55 or 60….people decline and become soft, sedentary and comfy.  Their minds and bodies

decline due to lack of things that mean something to them and lack of activity.

  • We need to continue to enjoy life.  Find new things that interest you.  Take a new class or find a new hobby.  Begin to dance again.  If you find yourself sitting or laying on the couch for a large majority of your day….it’s time to CHANGE IT UP!  If your mind desires to continue enjoying life…make your body co-operate!  It only takes about 3 weeks to make a habit.  FORCE it through until then.

HORMONE REPLACEMENT – will you or won’t you?(Men and Women)

I’ve posted many times about ways to maintain healthy hormonal health and discussed  BIOIDENTICAL replacement through my Your Holistic Guru Page on FaceBook as well as my website.  If after reading the books on this that I’ve recommended, you still decide replacement is NOT for you…stay calm and focus on maintaining optimal health. As I say all the time, the body is an amazing creation and can do miraculous things!  I always recommend that you start extremely slow if you do choose to use bio-identical replacement and that you don’t choose oral choices.  Transdermal is more effective.  But….again if you choose NOT to use them….make sure you are following the guidelines below:

  • Avoid sugar, especially fructose. All forms of sugar are detrimental to health in general and promote cancer. Fructose, however, is clearly one of the most harmful and should be avoided as much as possible.
  • Optimize your vitamin D. Vitamin D influences virtually every cell in your body and is one of nature’s most potent cancer fighters. Vitamin D is actually able to enter cancer cells and trigger apoptosis (cell death). If you have cancer, your vitamin D level should be between 70 and 100 ng/ml. Vitamin D works synergistically with every cancer treatment I’m aware of, with no adverse effects.

Remember that if you take oral vitamin D3 supplements, you also need to increase your vitamin K2 intake, as vitamin D increases the need for K2 to function properly.

Get plenty of natural vitamin A. There is evidence that vitamin A also plays a role in helping prevent breast cancer. It’s best to obtain it from vitamin A-rich foods, rather than a supplement. Your best sources are organic egg yolks, raw butter, raw whole milk, and beef or chicken liver.

  • Lymphatic breast massage can help enhance your body’s natural ability to eliminate cancerous toxins. This can be applied by a licensed therapists, or you can implement self-lymphatic massage. It is also promotes self-nurturance.
  • Avoid charring your meats. Charcoal or flame broiled meat is linked with increased breast cancer risk. Acrylamide—a carcinogen created when starchy foods are baked, roasted or fried—has been found to increase breast cancer risk as well.
  • Avoid unfermented soy products. Unfermented soy is high in plant estrogens, or phytoestrogens, also known as isoflavones. In some studies, soy appears to work in concert with human estrogen to increase breast cell proliferation, which increases the chances for mutations and cancerous cells.
  • Improve your insulin receptor sensitivity. The best way to do this is by avoiding sugar and grains and making sure you are exercising, especially with Peak Fitness. (recommended by Dr. Mercola big time)
  • Maintain a healthy body weight. This will come naturally when you begin eating right for your nutritional type (Dr Mercola is big on this) and exercising. It’s important to lose excess body fat because fat produces estrogen.
  • Drink a half to whole quart of organic green vegetable juice daily.   (Yeah!)
  • Get plenty of high quality animal-based omega-3 fats, such as krill oil. Omega-3 deficiency is a common underlying factor for cancer.
  • Curcumin. This is the active ingredient in turmeric and in high concentrations can be very useful adjunct in the treatment of breast cancer. It shows immense therapeutic potential in preventing breast cancer metastasis. It’s important to know that curcumin is generally not absorbed that well, so I’ve provided several absorption tips here.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol, or at least limit your alcoholic drinks to one per day.
  • Breastfeed exclusively for up to six months. Research shows breastfeeding can reduce your breast cancer risk.
  • Avoid wearing underwire bras. There is a good deal of data that metal underwire bras can heighten your breast cancer risk.
  • Avoid electromagnetic fields as much as possible. Even electric blankets can increase your cancer risk.
  • Avoid synthetic hormone replacement therapy. Breast cancer is an estrogen-related cancer, and according to a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer rates for women dropped in tandem with decreased use of hormone replacement therapy. (There are similar risks for younger women who use oral contraceptives. Birth control pills, which are also comprised of synthetic hormones, have been linked to cervical and breast cancers.)

If you are experiencing excessive menopausal symptoms, you may want to consider bioidentical hormone replacement therapy instead, which uses hormones that are molecularly identical to the ones your body produces and do not wreak havoc on your system. This is a much safer alternative.

  • Avoid BPA, phthalates and other xenoestrogens. These are estrogen-like compounds that have been linked to increased breast cancer risk
  • Make sure you’re not iodine deficient, as there’s compelling evidence linking iodine deficiency with breast cancer. (Dr. Mercola excerpt)

Ask yourself….Am I or have I been an enabling parent?

Excerpt from a great book called “Setting Boundaries with your Adult Children by Allison Bottke – a must read if you answer YES to the following questions.

Below are a few questions that might help you determine the difference between helping and enabling an adult child.  Interesting to note that these questions are not unlike those often asked in Al-Anon meetings when defining the behaviors of an alcoholic or drug addict with whom someone lives.

  1.  Have you repeatedly loaned your adult child money, which has seldom, if ever, been repaid?
  2. Have you paid for education and/or job training in more than one field?
  3. Have you paid bills he was supposed to have paid for him/her self?
  4. Have you accepted part of the blame for his addictions or behavior?
  5. Have you avoided talking about negative issues because you feared his response?
  6. Have you bailed him out of jail or paid for his legal fees?
  7. Have you given him “one more chance” and then another and another?
  8. Have you ever returned home at lunchtime (or called) and found him still in bed asleep?
  9. Have you wondered how he gets money to buy cigarettes, video games, new clothes and such but cant afford to pay his own bills?
  10. Have you ever “called in sick” for your child, lying about his symptoms to his boss?
  11. Have you threatened to throw him out but didn’t?
  12. Have you finished a job or project that he failed to complete himself because it was easier than arguing with him?
  13. Have you begun to feel that you’ve reached the end of your rope?
  14. Have you begun to hate both your child and yourself for the state in which you live?
  15. Have you begun to worry that the financial burden in more than you can bear?
  16. Have you begin to feel that your marriage is in jeopardy because of your adult child?
  17. Have you noticed that others are uncomfortable around you when this issue arises?
  18. Have you noticed an increase in profanity, violence, and/or other unacceptable behavior from your adult child?
  19. Have you noticed that things are missing from your home, including money, valuable, and other personal property?
  20. Have you noticed growing resentment in other family members because of your adult child?
  • If you answered YES to several of these questions, chances are that at some point in time, you have enabled your adult child to avoid their responsilbilites and to escape the consequences of his/her actions.  Rather than helping him grow into a productice and responsible adult, you have made it easier for him to become even more dependent and irresponsible.  If you answered yes to most or all of these questions, you have not only been an enabler but you have probably become a major contributor to the problem.  It’s time to STOP.  For more info…read the book, Setting Boundaries with your Adult Children by Allison Bottke. I highly recommend it.

HYDROTHERAPY – Hot and Cold Treatments

We’ve talked about the benefit of hot and cold packs in the presence of sinus issues or infection.   Europe is famous for their hydrotherapy clinics because they WORK! I believe they call it, Take the Waters.

HOT water sedates and relaxes you….your muscles relax and loosen.  All your blood comes to the surface

COLD water -exact opposite!  Stimulates you, wakes you UP!  Contracts muscles and drives all your blood from surface to deeper in your organs.

Massage or  body work…effects the breathing, circulation and temperature of the body.  It moves blood, lymphatic fluid and stimulates the nerves and causes healing. Hydrotherapy is another powerful healing technique.

By stimulating back and forth from hot to cold….we bring the blood to the surface and drive it back to the core of your body and then draw it back again. Quicker results than a massage or exercise.

Can be a powerful healer!

S-T-R-E-T-C-H

Yummm…..does a body good!  One of the first things you see when you walk in our bedroom is a huge 24″ plastic ball.  Can’t hide it.  When gkids come over…they love it.  I have to protect it from getting busted because I love it so much!  NOTHING stretches your body out like lying and rolling around on this inexpensive but cool, large ball.  They come in all colors so you can make it match your bedroom if you want. :) It will open up your chest and stretch your spine, keep you limber….gotta get one.  Check Walmart…between $15-20 bucks!  NEXT thing is our inversion table.  It feels awesome to give your body a break from gravity……it gets more blood to your brain.  I love to lay there completely inverted…feel like a new person when I get up.  In fact…gonna run downstairs and enjoy it right now.  Aaaahhhhh…..

Your Drinking Water…is it safe?

Do you consider your tap water safe to drink?  Ask your town or city to provide the breakdown of the water they supply.  Since water is the universal solvent, it absorbs much of what it comes into contact with. I live in the Town of Duck in NC and our breakdown includes heavy levels of arsenic. NASTY!  Added chlorine and other disinfectants, flouride, supposed acceptable levels of industrial pollutants, agricultural pollutants, insecticides and pesticides…all the chemical junk oozed from and leaked from manufacturing from all around and for a long long time. Consider drinking purified water.  At least boil your tap water it if you want to drink it.   Our bodies are 85% liquid and your brain alone is 75% liquid so we must drink good purified water…our bodies need it.   Pure water flushes waste, poisons and toxins from our system.

Your Choice? A Gift or a Burden?

Is your choice to to begin a journey toward greater health a blessing or a burden?  How do you look at it?  Do you dread your approach or appreciate every choice you are allowed to make?  If you are alive…there is still hope to change your health around.  No matter your circumstances….NOW is the time at hand.

HORMONES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND….AND ROUND…AND ROUND…OR N. O. T.!

Whether your focus right now is on PMS or MENOPAUSE or ANDROPAUSE (for men)….the following info is a “Worth Read”.

Let me begin by first saying that NO hormone replacement is better than taking good care of your overall health.  If you eat right, keep moving and don’t try to carry  the weight of the world on your shoulders….learn how to let go of stress as much as possible….most often, you won’t experience many or any of these problems.  BUT if you do….Hormone Replacement Therapy may be something you may want to consider…starting off very, very slow while paying very close attention.  Unfortunately, not a lot of us are willing to do that.  They want to swallow or rub on the magic cream or pill but you have to know your body and be willing to pay closer attention to find your “sweet spot” or proper dosage.

WHAT is menopause?  Mini-definition – cessation of menstrual cycle.  It typically first becomes erratic and when it stops, our hormones can get a little “off” for a time.  The stage leading up to this is Perimenopause .This is when the ups and downs can begin.  Mood swings, irritability, sleep issues, memory disturbances, aching…the roller coaster ride can be tough!   Perimenopause can begin these days as early 30’s and can last 5-10 years.  STOP THE MADNESS!  This simply does not have to be!!!

A change of diet is my first recommendation.  Stop eating inflammatory foods like white flours, breads, etc and sugar.  Eat only whole foods, not junk foods. The more organic you can eat the better.  Stop eating meats with hormones and antibiotics in them adding to your individual “mix”.  Stop drinking sodas (especially DIET) and drink more water. These things alone work wonders.  Next, consider stopping dairy products and if you watch too much TV….start moving more…..exercise your brain more.  GET BACK into the GAME OF LIFE.  These changes alone are usually enough.

When that is NOT enough….have some blood work done or saliva testing completed on your hormones.  See where or what you are deficient in and begin to work with a health practitioner or Doctor that understands that one SIZE truly does not fit all.  One that recognizes the human body is created magnificently and one that can re-design and come back to life given the right ingredients.

The complaint I hear most from women is, “I just don’t feel right anymore, I’m not me anymore.”  Their periods are usually erratic at this stage of the game. Estrogen may or may not be too low…progesterone typically is. Again…everyone is different.

Many times, adding some progesterone (real not synthetic) is all the help some need.  It is the primary building block for all other steroid hormones.  Many times women are estrogen dominant due to their low progesterone levels and progesterone can often be the needed re-balance.  Sometimes the imbalance between estrogen and progesterone may cause or promote medical conditions such as fat gain, water retention, decreased sex drive, fatigue, depression, fibrocystic breasts, hair loss, headaches, insomnia, osteoporosis, breast cancer and uterine cancer.

I offer ProgesterAll crème by Dr. John Lee.  It’s fragrance free and it contains 20 milligrams of USP Natural Progesterone. It has a unique liposome-mediated delivery system that will ensure rapid absorption into your skin so that they can be stored in the underlying fatty tissues for transmission to your bloodstream.  Quick, efficient! All progesterone crèmes are NOT created equal.  ProgesterAll is a natural balancing crème with the right ingredients.  Check it out!  $24.95 plus tax and shipping and I will be here to answer your questions as you move along for the first month.  Email me and I will send you the PayPal information you need to get started!

Once you have found your specific “game plan” you will achieve freedom…you WILL function again and you will do it with amazing flare.  WHOHOOOOOOO…bring it on….You will conquer and begin to not only enjoy life again but to embrace it.

YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM – are a collection of organs, ducts and tissues that has the dual role of draining tissue fluid (lymph) back into the bloodstream and of fighting infection.  Lymph is drained by a system of channels (lymphatic vessels). White cells produced by the bone marrow, thymus and spleen are present in lymph nodes or circulate through the lymphatic system, providing defenses against infection.  Lymph is constantly moving around the body but this system has NO pump of its own like the heart.  Lymph is circulated by movement of your body’s muscles: a system of ONE way valves in the lymphatic vessels ensures that it moves in the right direction.  Exertion also pushes fluid from body tissues into the bloodstream.
When my granddaughter was diagnosed with lymphangioma behind her eye, we naturally panicked.  There was only ONE doctor at that time that we could find in the US that was skilled in any procedures to help.  Their view was to shrink the blood vessels that surrounded her optic nerve through injections designed to shrink.  A very risky procedure for her eyesight.
This was before my formal “training” in  Holistic Health Care but we naturally sought out any “natural” approach we could take toward healing and we first thought of Bryon Jones of Virginia Beach Acupuncture who simply said…”If it’s lymphatic, I can help”.  Bryon is a friend and he went to high school and college with my daughter before entering his schooling and training in Acupuncture. Bryon is our “Family GO TO” for regular preventive and help with any health problems. He explained how we could manipulate the lymph tissue through manual massage and help keep it moving when it became “backed up”.  He showed us the pressure points to work with and though we had the first surgery as suggested which helped for a short time….the lymphatic massage was the answer and our blessing! Keeping her lymph system strong and moving with some manipulation as needed —we are proud to state that she has not had a swollen outbreak in years and years.  The Dr’s said that when she got sick at all and especially when she went through puberty, to expect routine outbreaks.  NOT the case!  P. T. L. ! At the first sign of cold, virus or even a tiny bit of swelling around the eye, the manipulation begins.  NEVER again has she had the outbreak she first had. Thanks, Lord and thanks for Bryon Jones of Virginia Beach Acupuncture!

YO MOMMA – Really?

At what magical age does YO MOMMA end and YOU begin?  Is there a magical age?  For some reason, 27 years of age was magical for me.  Now, consider the fact that at that time, I had two kids.  Got married right out of high school (graduated a year early) and three years later, we had our first child, our daughter…let the journey begin.  It was around that time that I begin to think for me and what I wanted.  Not, “What would Momma say about this? or think about this”?  Now…I’ve told you a little bit about my YO MOMMA and she was not the busy body type….in your face….model of YO MOMMA.  But still, I thought as a child and not a woman…for whatever reason.  I saw things while raising my kids that made me wonder HOW? WHY? could a YO MOMMA allow this or that to something they loved this much?   We need a counselor for those answers and since we are just “talking”….let’s keep it JUST US. :)

When do you start to realize your choices are your own?  When do you start to understand that the blame game must stop in order for you to grow?  For women, I think it often has to do with their Mommas.  I like to think that my daughter and son had a pretty good YO MOMMA. :)  I was never perfect but I gave it all I had and both of them were a huge focal point for me… I think they would agree.  My daughter told me one time that one day it just hit her…that her YO MOMMA was a woman first and still is.  I think that day we hit a huge changing point in our relationship.  What a revelation for a young woman!  My daughter will be 36 tomorrow and I think it was about five years or more ago that she shared that with me.  In order for that to happen, I had to know myself that I was a woman before my kids, a woman with her own thoughts outside of parenting… and that now that part of my job was over. I had to learn how to become a woman of my own again.  Now maybe you dont suffer with things like that.  Maybe it’s because I grew up around alcoholism…who knows?  Whatever the reason….it was a revelation for me and I hope one for my daughter.   I think it’s important to understand all aspects that we can of the people in our lives.  Where they came from, what they hoped to achieve in life and if you only label them “YO MOMMA”…sometimes that never takes place.  We have to “see” the person for who they really are or were.

As I’ve grown older and think back about my YO MOMMA’s life, I realize much of what she must have went through, her insecurities with her own YO MOMMA….and understanding her humanity…helps me understand, forgive and move on.

So….blogging is a great place to share your thoughts….My hope for you today is that YO MOMMA (whether she is alive or gone) is not causing you grief or pain.   I hope your thoughts are good ones whether she did a great job at parenting you or not.  Find something you appreciated about YO MOMMA and if there is nothing…set out to be a better one yourself.  If your parenting years are over…consider a new improved Grandmother version of yourself.  Point is…It’s never too late.

YO MOMMA was YO MOMMA…good, bad or ugly.  Decide which version you want to be and then get to work on accomplishing it.  Cheers…to YO MOMMA and to YO!

BOUNDARIES….and flexibility???

BOUNDARIES:  Personal boundaries define you as an individual. Statements of what you will or won’t do, what you like and don’t like….how close someone can get to you.  Have you defined your boundaries?  There’s always a place for boundaries but flexibility is priceless.  When defining your personal boundaries…some things need to be set in stone and some things we must allow for flexibility.   Comments?  Suggestions?

What is Natural, Healthy Living and WHO is it for?

The hardest part is that it is ONLY for those who are willing to make healthy and positive lifestyle changes. Sounds very simple but I’m amazed at how many people are NOT willing even when they know it can make huge differences.  We are all creatures of habit, I get it.  Trying to re-learn or change things is not always easy.  Natural Healing is simply helping your body become stronger and healthier so it can heal your body quicker and more easily.  After it, the body was created and designed for healing and repair.    Most often it’s as easy as stopping what we are currently doing as far as our eating and activity levels and doing what allows our body to operate under “prime” conditions.  EX: switching man made foods to only whole foods.  Taking the stairs vs the elevator; parking further away and not circling the parking lot for ten minutes for a closer spot.  Learning to forgive others and let go of the anger we surround ourselves with.  Learning to enjoy the little things in life and appreciate things. Our bodies were designed to MOVE and somehow we don’t do much of that anymore. We were designed for alot of movement…not even the typical gym workout but walking, stretching up, bending down….many of us avoid these things at all cost these days.  Too much TV…too much drama and not enough LIVING.  I see people 35 and 40 years old AVOIDING the stairs?  WHAT?  Climb them…walk them….but take the stairs whenever you can. I’m grateful to have three floors in my house that I have to climb daily and lug groceries up…because it keeps me realizing the benefit of movement.  When I see someone climb them that are not used to it…it’s a reminder that the little daily things we do….make the great difference!  Look around at your home…your life…your work space….how can you add movement into your world?  Can you walk at lunch?  Can you stand up on break and do 20 squats?  Can you stand up and move your arms side to side?  WHAT can or WHAT will you do?  You can continue sitting all day every day and when you get up…..hear the bones orchestra scream back at you or you can change it.  Right now.

Sometimes our bodies get too tired, too worn down and too filled up with junk….physical, emotional and spiritual.  We have to turn that around.  Step by step….baby steps…then bigger steps…then a few LEAPS and you will see the changes beginning to take place.

Fighting High Blood Sugar?

Problems with your blood sugar?  Your body will fix a multitude of issues given the right ingredients!  Hands Down!!!  A low glycemic food program with HIGH nutrition is your answer.  Whole grains, veggies, foods in their NATURAL state and even most fruits have a low glycemic index.  The more natural and WHOLE the food your eating…the less problems you will have.  Processed foods are your enemy as they are everyones….  The more whole and natural your food, the harder and slower your body digest and assimilates…therefore your blood sugar is not raised as rapidly.

Make sure your bowels are eliminating regularly…that means at least ONCE every single day.

Stay moving for at least one hour every single day.

Stop eating FAKE, man made foods!

You’ll be on your way to no sugar problems….It’s up to YOU!

I love Dr. Schulze and not the footwear….

To some…Dr. Schulze would be considered a health fantatic!  To me…he is RIGHT ON!  I’ve tried much of his stuff and all of them to date have worked.  I love his NO NONSENSE approach and belief in the human body and it’s ability to heal.  Check him out.  www.herbdocblog.com

BRAIN POWER?

We all worry about forgetting things.  In today’s busy world…it happens more often than we want it to.  When you start putting your keys in the refrigerator….well, it’s TIME to start changing some things.  Now, I’m not saying I’ve left my keys in the frig BUT if I did….I’d be afraid…worse was on its way!  :)

What’s a girl or boy to do?  EXERCISE your brain.  Two little cells come together and this connection is called a synapes.  When that connection does not fire off as it should….our memories get weak and we forget more and more.  STOP THE MADNESS!

How do we exercise our brain?  Crossword puzzles are great.  I HATE them but they work.  Any type of puzzle that takes brain power.  How about learning a new language?  SOMETHING to keep your brain firing connections strong.  Learn something NEW every, single day! Learn a new cooking skill, a new dance step, read something that requires you to focus….but LEARN SOMETHING!

Which foods help you?  Walnuts…a handful a day.  OLIVE OIL – use it every day.  The Journal of Clincial Nutrition just stated that using OLIVE OIL every day gives us less chance of dying from ANYTHING.  How bout dose apples…???? :)  Use COCONUT OIL often.  Our brains have lots of cholesterol in them.  These oils improve cognitive function.  So, eat up.  Magnesium Threonate crosses blood brain barrier so consider that supplement.

EAT good oils….Learn something new every single day and you are on the right road to always knowing where you left your keys…..

OSTEOPOROSIS

OSTEOPOROSIS is not a calcium deficiency disease; it is a disease of excessive calcium loss.  In other words, you can take all the calcium supplements you want but if your diet and life style choices are unhealthy or you’re taking prescription drugs that cause you to lose calcium, you will still lose more calcium from your bones than you can take in through diet.  Some good food choices for calcium are snow peas; broccoli; leafy green vegetables such as spinach, kale, and beet and turnip greens; almonds; figs; beans nonfat milk; yogurt; and cottage cheese.  Don’t depend on milk to get your calcium. Milk has poor calcium to magnesium ratio.  Magnesium deficiency may be more common in women with osteoporosis than calcium deficiency.  Good sources of magnesium are whole grains; wheat brain. Leafy green veggies, nuts (almonds best).  Make your food count for your body!

Help with Blood Pressure Issues

NUTRITION FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE:

I always recommend buying your own cuff and taking blood pressure 3X day and averaging it.  Drugs treat the symptoms of high blood pressure which can be necessary in some cases but CURING the problem requires nutritional support and supplementation along with dietary and lifestyle changes.

1st off:  WATER – almost all blood pressure meds mimic the effects of increased water intake. Drink 15 glasses a day if you have high blood pressure.  Yes, a lot but it helps to relax your arteries.  Quit the soft drinks and make water your drink of choice.   Eat POTASSIUM rich foods .  The higher your Potassium level, the lower your sodium level so google some high potassium foods (like bananas) and make sure they are part of your diet.  Fresh fruits and veggies will lower your blood pressure and take care of your body in many other healthy ways.  Eat cold water fish and/or take Omega 3 supplement.    FISH OIL is huge for lowering blood pressure.  MAGNESIUM GLUCONATE – less arterial tension because it also relaxes arteries.  It is Recommended to take 500-1000 milligrams a day divided into 3 doses. COQ10 like exercise for your arteries and it very important. Many with high Bp are deficient in this nutrient.  EXERCISE – get moving…no excuses…walk but do not become sedentary.  HIDDEN EMOTIONS huge cause….DEAL with it…Change what you can but release what you must! GARLIC – eat as much as you can fresh or supplement…2-3 cloves a day…friends may not like it but you will feel FANTASTIC!  J  Try this and monitor your blood pressure.   If you are holding onto bitterness, hatred and anger….not much will help in this area or any other.  SO….loosen up…forgive….enjoy life….embrace it!

Sleep and Neurobics

Restful sleep – How much sleep do you get per night? Its value to human health and proper functioning is without question and is essential to both the body and mind.  Our bodies repair themselves while we sleep. Your first four hours of sleep is when we get the highest release of growth hormone which is responsible for lean body mass; thinning of skin and expansion of adipose (fat) tissues…so we MUST sleep well.  If your taking sleep medications..these can interrupt our dreams which are essential for healthy brain function.  Check out NEUROBICS – the latest in specific brain exercise.
